From 1 to 18 November 2003 I went with a group of German underwaterphotographers to Patagonia. The trip was organised by Detlef Denne and Frank Wirth.  Every year the southern right whale comes to Golfo Nuevo, Peninsula Valdés to give birth and mate.

We could come very close to the whales because they are very friendly and interested in humans and boats. Other highlights on this spectacular expedition were the visits to the magellan penguins, the rockhopper penguins, the sea elephants, the sea lions and the many birds. It was my first trip with a digital camera, the Canon EOS 300D. I used it on land together and alternating with my analog camera Nikon 5D. It was great to watch the results in the laptop every evening.
