In 1975 I started diving at the age of 16. I took up underwater photography in 1982 with a Nikonos IV during my first trip to the Red Sea. Four years later I switched to a SLR camera, a Canon A1 in a Hugyfot underwater housing. As soon as the Nikon RS was available in 1992 I switched to that camera. More than 13 years this was my favourite camera. In 2005 I went digital with the Canon 5D camera in a Hugyfot housing and Subtronic and Sea&Sea flashes. My favourite lenses for wide angle are the 15 mm and 17-40 mm and for macro the 50 and 100 mm.

I work at the Netherlands Embassy in Berlin. All my free time I spend on travelling and diving.

This webpage is dedicated to my passion for underwater photography. I have been diving all over the world, I like to take pictures of all kind of animals, from tiny seahorses in the Philippines to whales in Patagonia.

As soon as I started underwater photography my father inspired me to make slide shows. His motto was ‘not only take pictures, but show them’. I have done presentations at festivals and congresses and won various prizes with my photos and slideshows at festivals in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France.
The prizes of which I’am very proud of are the second place at the Festival Mondial de l’Image sous-marine 2001 in Antibes, France with the multivisionshow ‘Egypt in Triovision’, the first place at the Mares Cup 2002 in Egypt and the first place at the Digideep Red Sea Expedition 2008 at Sharm el Sheikh.
